The ONYX BOOX Note Air 2 is an e-book reader with an enlarged screen in a thin metal case. The model is equipped with a 10.3” E Ink Carta display and has a front light and a dual touch control. Thanks to this screen, the E reader is ideal for working with large-format documents, including files in PDF and DjVu formats. The model is based on the Android 11 operating system, which allows you to install and use third-party apps and significantly expands the functionality of the device. A built-in Wi-Fi module allows you to use various network services, and Bluetooth support allows users to connect external devices. The body of the device is made of light and durable aluminum-magnesium alloy, its screen is covered with Asahi protective glass. The wide side allows you to hold the device comfortably with one hand while reading for a long time.
E Ink Carta is the latest development of the E Ink company. This is a display made using the "electronic paper" technology. Reading from this screen is as comfortable as from a regular paper page. Compared to the displays of the previous series, it has a lighter background and higher contrast.
Regal is a screen mode that allows to reduce the number of artifacts on the E Ink screen when it is partially refreshed. If this function is on, a full refresh of the screen is not necessary when reading simple text documents.
The MOON Light 2 technology allows you to use the device in the dark or in poor light conditions without harming your sight. This function creates a soft glow on the screen that is optimal for dark rooms. The front light has a color temperature adjustment and has no flickering thanks to the Flicker-Free technology.
The latest researches have shown that blue light interferes with the production of melatonin (a regulator of circadian rhythms), which is necessary for a person to sleep. Therefore, after reading from the glowing screen of an ordinary tablet or smartphone, it is often difficult to fall asleep. The MOON Light 2 backlight allows you to independently adjust the brightness of the cold and warm light LEDs, choosing at will both a whiter light for reading during the day and a more yellow light for reading before going to bed. The Flicker-Free technology completely eliminates the flickering of the LEDs used in this frontlight. This is due to the use of a constant voltage source. The Flicker-Free technology significantly reduces discomfort and eye fatigue and reduces the likelihood of headaches caused by prolonged use of the E reader.
Protective glass from a well-known Japanese manufacturer ASAHI is placed over the E Ink screen and protects it from scratches and other damages. The new glass made it possible to abandon additional frame edges, so the screen is located flush to the body of the device. It makes the work with the E reader more comfortable and its look more up-to-date. In addition, a special coating reduces the likelihood of glare on the screen.
The 10.3” E Ink Carta display with the Regal function is ideal for viewing documents containing graphs and diagrams, as well as for any PDF or DjVu documents. The absence of flickering frontlight and the principle of image formation using the "electronic ink" method makes reading eye-friendly.
The BOOX software allows you to open a number of different text and image file formats. While reading, you can change the style and the size of the font, the position of the pages, add bookmarks and zoom documents at your wish.
The Note Air 2 has two sensor layers. A multi-touch capacitive layer is located over the screen surface. You can page e-books and zoom documents with an intuitive two-finger pinch. In addition, a Wacom sensor layer is located under the E Ink panel. Thanks to this, you can make notes on the margins and sketch using a special stylus which comes with the device. The stylus recognizes 4096 degrees of pressure and allows you to draw with extreme accuracy.
The 8-core processor with 2 GHz clock rate and 4 GB of RAM ensure a comfort work with the most difficult documents. And 64 GB of nonvolatile memory allows the user to store a considerable library of technical literature.
A built-in G-sensor automatically selects the correct text orientation when the device is rotated. Thanks to this option, you can change the orientation of the eReader and the image will be restructured automatically. The scrolling buttons on the cover case also change their functions according to the orientation of the screen.
The software of the E reader allows you to install additional dictionary databases in the Stardict format at your wish or to download offered dictionaries automatically when you connect to a Wi-Fi access point in the dictionary settings.
Thanks to a built-in Bluetooth 5.0 module, you can connect external devices.
The device supports OTG, thanks to which you can connect additional peripherals that do not require drivers.
The device has a pre-installed audio player, so you can listen to music or audio books. To use it, just run a corresponding audio file. You also can connect earphones or external speakers either via Bluetooth or via the USB Type C connector.
The Note Air 2 model is based on the Android 11 operating system and allows you to install and use various third-party apps, which significantly expand the possibilities of using the device.
Low power consumption by the E-Ink display and battery capacity of 3000 mAh provides a long-lasting autonomous work.
The BOOX allows the user to read documents in different world languages. Amongst them there are such languages as Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Swedish, Dutch, Finnish, Polish, Chinese, Japanese and many others.
