ONYX BOOX Note Air is an e-book reader designed for reading large-format documents. It got an E Ink Carta screen with a diagonal of 10.3 inches, backlit Moon Light 2 and Asahi protective glass. The new Qualcomm processor has 8 cores, clocked at 1.8 GHz, which, in combination with 3 GB of RAM, allows you to quickly and comfortably work with documents in PDF and DjVu formats, and the WACOM sensor makes it possible to take notes both in a separate application and directly in the text. The model is based on the Android 10.0 operating system, which allows you to install third-party programs from the ONYX app store and other sources. And thanks to the Wi-Fi module, you can access the Internet, use a browser and connect to network libraries. The wide side field allows you to hold the device with one hand for a long time.
E Ink Carta is the latest development of E Ink. This is an electronic paper display. Reading from such a screen is as comfortable as from a regular paper page. Compared to the previous series displays, it has a lighter substrate and higher contrast.
Regal is a screen mode that allows to reduce the number of artifacts on the E Ink screen during partial redrawing. If this function is activated, a complete redrawing is not required when reading simple text documents.
MOON Light 2 technology allows you to use the device in the dark or low light conditions, without harming your eyes. This function creates a soft glow on the screen that is optimal for dark rooms. The backlight has color temperature control and is flicker-free thanks to Flicker-Free technology.
Recent studies have shown that blue light interferes with the production of melatonin (a regulator of circadian rhythms), which a person needs to sleep. Therefore, after reading from the luminous screen of an ordinary tablet or smartphone, it is often difficult to fall asleep. Backlight MOON Light 2 allows you to independently adjust the brightness of the LEDs for cold and warm light, choosing whiter light for reading during the day, and more yellow for reading before bed. Flicker-Free technology completely eliminates the flickering of the LEDs used in this backlight. This is due to the use of a constant voltage source. Flicker-Free technology significantly reduces eye discomfort and fatigue and reduces the likelihood of headaches caused by prolonged use of the reader.
The protective glass from the well-known Japanese manufacturer ASAHI is located on top of the E Ink screen and protects it from scratches and other damage. The new glass made it possible to abandon additional sides, so the screen is flush with the body of the device. This makes the work with the e-book more comfortable and its appearance more modern. In addition, a special coating reduces the chance of glare on the screen.
E Ink Carta display with a diagonal of 10.3 inches and support for the Regal function is ideal for viewing documents containing graphs and diagrams, as well as for any documents in PDF and DjVu format. The absence of flickering backlight and the principle of image formation using the "electronic ink" method makes reading comfortable for the eyes.
The BOOX software allows you to open many different text and image file formats. While reading, you can change the style and size of the font, the position of the pages, add bookmarks and arbitrarily scale documents.
Note Air has two touch layers. Above the surface of the screen is a capacitive sensor with multi-touch support. You can flip through books and zoom documents with intuitive movements of two fingers. In addition, under the E Ink panel is the Wacom touch layer. Thanks to this, you can make notes in the margins and sketches using the special stylus included in the kit. The stylus recognizes 4096 levels of pressure and allows you to draw with increased accuracy.
An 8-core processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz and 3 GB of RAM ensure comfortable work with any, even the most complex documents. And 32 GB of non-volatile memory allows you to store a large library of technical literature.
A built-in G-sensor automatically selects the correct text orientation when the device is rotated. Thanks to this option, you can change the orientation of the eReader and the image will be restructured automatically. The scrolling buttons on the cover case also change their functions according to the orientation of the screen.
The book software allows you to install additional dictionary databases in the Stardict format at your discretion or download the proposed dictionaries automatically when connected to Wi-Fi in the dictionary settings.
Thanks to the built-in 5.0 Bluetooth module, you can connect external devices.
The device supports OTG, with which you can connect additional peripherals that do not require drivers.
The Note Air model allows the user to write personal software using the capabilities of the Android 10 platform.
Low power consumption of the E-Ink display and a battery capacity of 3000 mAh provides up to a month of autonomous working period.
BOOX allows you to read documents in different languages of the world. Among them are Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Swedish, Dutch, Finnish, Polish, Chinese, Japanese and many others.
